Completing a Card Present Preauthorization on a PayFacto Terminal

Overview

To complete a card present preauthorization on a payment terminal, you need to perform the following:
  1. Exit the Gateway application
  2. Start the Payment application
  3. Complete the preauthorization

Exit the Gateway application

The Gateway application links the payment terminal to the Hotello Point of Sale (POS) system.
To exit the Gateway application:
  1. Press and hold the Welcome / Bonjour text for two (2) to three (3) seconds.
    You can also tap the Welcome / Bonjour text six times quickly.

  2. Enter the Merchant password and touch OK.

  3. The PayFacto Hosts Settings page appears.
  4. Touch Exit Application and then touch OK to confirm that you want to exit the application.

Start the Payment application

  1. On the terminal's main screen, touch the Payment icon to start the application

Complete the preauthorization

You can complete (capture) a preauthorization amount between $0.01 to the original preauthorized amount. If you complete a preauthorization for less than the original amount, the balance is released to the client.
At this time, it is not possible to complete a preauthorization for $0.00 (refund the full preauthorized amount). If you need to refund a preauthorization, you must complete it for $0.01.
To complete a preauthorization:
  1. After the application starts, touch the Action button on the main screen.

  2. Touch the Transactions button.

  3. On the Transactions page, touch Completion without Pre Authorization.
  4. Use the number pad to enter the final purchase amount and touch Completion Without Preauthorization.
  5. The terminal prompts you for the original Invoice Number; use the number pad to enter the invoice number and touch OK.

  6. The terminal prompts you for the Original amount for the preauthorization; use the number pad to enter the original amount and touch OK.

  7. The terminal confirms the completion and prints the merchant receipt; to print the customer receipt, touch Print or None if the client does not want a transaction receipt.
