VEL#051 - Groups and keys

What is the purpose of Groups and keys ?

Groups and keys are used to create the menu layout that will be on the workstations

In this course, you'll learn how-to assign your item screens to your layout. There is many options that can be added on the group and key, but we will stay basic for this course.

How-to create a group and key ?

Backoffice

Point of sales control

Sales tab

Groups and keys...

Select an available space

Configuration

Enter the description

Select the number of Columns and Rows that you need (8x8 is always a good way to start)

Buttons

It looks a little bit empty for now, we will start by assigning our items screens on our layout

Select the button at the top left

  • In the button configuration page, click on [Function] at the top
  • In the function dropdown, select Item screen
  • Under the Screens dropdown, select one of your item screen

  • Go back to the Configuration tab, we have some more settings to do

Style:

  • Button: Square button
  • Line at bottom: Only a line at the bottom of the button
  • Pill: Pill button
  • Rounded rectangle: Rounded corners button (If you select this style, make sure to put the icon position at 'Button' instead of 'Full size')
  • Transparent: Nothing only default background and text color will appear

Use an icon: If you want to add an icon to the button

  • Icons are located in your veloce folder \WSDATA\WIN\ICONS\
  • .png, .bmp, .jpg are compatible
  • Only enter the filename in the field (Example: burger.png - only enter burger in the setting)

* Take note that you won't see the style, font size and icon of the button on the backoffice, you can only see the result on a workstation*

It should look like this at the end with your custom settings that you applied.

Tip : You can copy/paste a button, so you only have to change the function and the color, all the appearance will be the same

Display the items from the item screen is a specific spot on the group and key

* This function is useful to always have the main layout displaying on the workstation, means that when an item screen is selected, the menu will remain and the items will show up in the appropriate space. You will always have access to switch from an item screen to another without having to press a 'Back' button *

Here is the final result:

Select the button at the right side of Appetizer

Under [Function]

Select the function called 'Show Screen/Remark/Popup'
